Family Update - the Holmes'

6 years...since my last blog post.  That is a long time when it comes to young families, so I thought updating you all would be fun!

Meet our oldest son, Tom. Can you see the slight family resemblance?

He lives with his sweet family in Missouri which means we don't get to see them even remotely often enough.

Emma, my adorable first born grandchild, is already in double digits.  She is still one of my favorite scrapbook subjects and an extremely creative gal herself.  She is lovely, strong, brave and so very special.

And Mr. Camren...do you remember:

If you are new to our blog, you don't know but he was a micro preemie, born at 25 weeks.  He is our miracle grandchild...and now completely (100%)  perfect on the regular milestone's chart.  He is one amazing young man and he keeps everyone smiling.

We wish EVERY moment of EVERY day that they lived closer so that we could be a MUCH bigger part of their lives.  But, we are thankful for the beauty of digital photos and social media to keep us updated on their fun activities.

Just look at these cuties on their first day of school:

Thanks for tuning back in....more updates coming this week!

Free Cut File & Inspiration #1

Yes, I'm still scrapbooking!  My schedule over the last few years has limited my creating to a couple weekend retreats a year.  Thankfully, the last 6 months has changed that and I'm back to weekly and sometimes even DAILY creating.  I've even started dreaming of layouts again...love that!  Here are a few layouts to inspire you!

These first four layouts were all created with the new line from AMERICAN CRAFTS by Vicki Boutin, Wildflowers & Honey.  I love the versatility of this line...just look at how different all these layouts are in theme and style.  There is nothing better than a collection that provides different papers that can be fussy cut.  This creates custom embellishments ... and provides an opportunity to customize them to fit individual styles.  One thing that helps the fussy cutting to look more polished is adding black edges.  It makes them POP off the page!  I like to use a Sharpee to do this.

Layout #5 is a mismatch of paper lines from my stash of hoarded favorites.  I created the ALOHA cut file and wanted to share it with you!  It is Silhouette file, please use with my permission!  I'd love to see what you create with it!

ALOHA SILHOUETTE FILE - to download, hover over the 3 dots in the upper right and click download.  Enjoy! Leave me a comment and let me know if you like cut files!  I'm planning on making more!

I'm so glad to be back!

Nothing but Possibilities...

I started this blog in 2007 and continued sharing life and scrapbooking until mid 2014 when life kept me from posting regularly.  I remember when I realized it had been a month since my last post and how sad it made me that the blog era had come to an end.  Facebook and Instagram had taken over and blogs were "old school".  I found myself looking through the old posts over the next few years and reminiscing about the stories shared, the art posted, and the products advertised.  It was a labor of love and I found myself missing the result, but not missing the time required.  Fast forward to now.
I've been out of the scrapbooking industry for 2 years now, "retired" from work for about 6 months, and completely finished with homeschooling after 25 years.  I decided to visit the old blog.  Sadly, due to an old FLICKR account and old blogspot issues, the majority of the photos from those 7 years are not available to view on the blog.  I still have the stories, but the photos have disappeared. Instead of leaving those posts up, I've archived them and here we are...starting fresh!
So much has changed.  The kids are all grown up, degrees have been earned, careers have been planned and started, weddings have taken place and grandbabies have arrived.  So far, SEVEN, to be exact.  They are the light of my life and my time with them is precious and priceless.  I'm thankful for cellphone pictures that just show up in my inbox.  My girls really know how to make me happy.
I'm excited to update you over the next few weeks as I get back into regular blogging.

Let's start with some basic updates!

River @ 4.5yo and Rollo @ 1.5yo
Thunder @ 2.5yo
Meet the HOLMESPACK. River, Rollo and Thunder are my ever present companions.  River is the ultimate protector and Rollo...well, Rollo is Rollo.  He is a sweet boy and my special needs companion...his special needs and mine.  He is an amazing comfort at every turn and I can't imagine life without him.  Thunder is a cat and of course, acts like he doesn't need anyone.  But he can be found curled up between us in bed every night and lately, nosing up to Rollo.

Ignore the makeshift cone...it was late Sunday and he had a hotspot on his hip that he was messing with.  These three keep me company all day since these days I'm home alone.  After years of all the kids here all day schooling, the silence can by heavenly and lonely all at the same time.  Don't get me wrong, I'm loving this season of my life. Nothing but possibilities.
